Convenings Update

In July, GPP brought together 15 members in Montevideo, Uruguay for our annual meeting and the Global LGBTI Human Rights Conference.

In October, GPP convened an ILGA Europe Donor Pre-Conference in Nicosia, Cyprus in collaboration with Ariadne and ILGA Europe. 25 members and partners attended, representing private and public foundations, individual, government, and corporate grantmakers. The pre-conference focused on discussions of Trans* Funding, Intersex Funding, and Resource Mobilization. In Cyprus, GPP also organized a post-ILGA Europe donor breakfast and debrief session.

In November, GPP organized an ILGA World Donor Pre-Conference in Bangkok, Thailand. 70 members and partners attended this convening, organized in collaboration with UNDP, SIDA, and ILGA. Again, participants represented a wide range of private and public foundations, individual, government, and corporate grantmakers.

The ILGA World Donor Pre-Conference focused on themes including:

  • Promotion of Open Space for LGBTI Civil Society;
  • Exploration of LGBTI Intermediary Infrastructure;
  • Sustainable Development Goals and LGBTI Inclusion.

During ILGA World, GPP also organized a session to share information about grantmaking models and resources. Representatives from Open Society Foundation, Astraea Foundation, Arcus Foundation, the International Trans* Fund, Ford Foundation, and UNDP participated as panelists.

GPP Director Matthew Hart also gave a “Rainbow Talk” to the full conference body (700 attendees) introducing the Global Resources Report and discussing the ways the report’s data can make a difference for LGBTI movements.
