A substantial body of evidence now demonstrates how foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI), including disinformation, exploits vulnerabilities and contentious issues. This manipulation aims to create divisions, foster distrust, and polarize our societies. Among the significantly targeted groups is the LGBTIQ+ community.

Recent years have seen considerable advances in understanding and addressing FIMI. However, specific analyses focusing on the LGBTIQ+ community have been limited. This report, the first of its kind, seeks to bridge this gap.

This document is the inaugural report dedicated exclusively to examining FIMI targeting the LGBTIQ+ community, including detailed case studies. Its purpose is to equip the defender community with a better understanding of FIMI’s nature and the Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) employed against the LGBTIQ+ community. By gaining this knowledge, both the LGBTIQ+ community and other groups can enhance their ability to counter FIMI by learning from the recurring tactics used.
