Bridging the Gap: Resourcing LGBTQI Climate Action

Across the globe, LGBTQI organisations are playing a crucial role in building community resilience to the climate crisis and actively engaging in climate action—ranging from mitigation and adaptation to capacity building and just transition efforts. Despite their contributions, these communities are often excluded from climate policy and decision-making spaces, leaving them underfunded and unable to expand their essential work.

To address this, GiveOut hosted the world’s first LGBTQI Climate Convening in March 2025, aiming to identify funding challenges and collaboratively develop strategies to better support and grow LGBTQI-led climate initiatives. This report presents key insights from the convening, alongside findings from GiveOut’s broader work through the LGBTQI Climate Fund. It also includes recommendations for funders and LGBTQI organisations, as well as case studies from five regions around the world.
