The LGBTI Pathways Project Moves Full-Steam Ahead!

Between July and September, the Global Philanthropy Project and ILGA World have set up robust regional structures, which have always been central to the project. We are proud to be working with these incredible regional partners over the following years:

These partners are central to the organizing within their regions, the outreach strategies during the LGBTI Pathways survey period (from January 2026) and the analysis of the LGBTI movement survey data during the report writing period.

To support and hold up the project, our team also set up Regional Experts groups in all 7 regions. These unique advisory bodies are made up equally – half of funders and half of activists from the region and their role is to guide the region-specific questions which will complement the core survey questions and advise on outreach strategies.

At LGBTI Pathways, we have not been immune to the funding cuts of 2025 – compelling our Regional Experts to meet online rather than in person. We thank them for their generosity and patience, even in this format.

On 4 and 5 September, the Latin America and Caribbean experts were the first to convene. Energy was high and the group was in great spirits to finally start working together. Diálogo Diverso sensitively guided them in a discussion about issues important to the region, such as movement dynamics, language barriers and sub-regionality. On Day 2, the Global Technical Team led the four funders and four civil society representatives in small and large group discussions to brainstorm on the Latin America and the Caribbean region-specific questions. These questions will shape the survey that we will disseminate among our communities in the region, to better understand their funding and support needs!  Having different sessions in Spanish also made for a more animated and effective meeting.

Even as we begin to wrap up this stage of the Latin America and the Caribbean meeting and process, we are gearing up towards the Asia experts meeting on 24 and 26 September, and the SWANA meeting the week after. Oceania and North America and the Caribbean will not be far behind in October, while Europe and Central Asia and Africa will conclude the regional meetings in November.

We are immensely grateful to our new Global Technical Team who stepped into their role in May 2025 and who have been indispensable in all aspects of the planning and running of experts meetings and so quickly grasped the research goals of the project.

Stay tuned for news about the project!
