LGBTI Pathways survey now open: Shape the future of funding for LGBTI communities worldwide

Funders make decisions that can shape what safety, dignity, and justice look like for LGBTI communities worldwide. We can move financial resources that enable LGBTI communities to survive and to thrive.

Today, LGBTI movements face escalating pressures: shrinking civic space, rising costs, and growing demand for services and protection. Meanwhile, funding is shifting rapidly, and too often, resources are allocated without a clear understanding of what communities on the ground actually need.

But we know that this can shift. Funders and organizations need reliable data to identify gaps, provide more targeted support, and ensure resources match the real priorities of LGBTI movements.

You can help shape that change

  • If you are an LGBTI organization or allied group: Take the LGBTI Pathways survey and share your experience. Together, we will build clear evidence — based on real stories and real data from the ground — that funders and organisations that do LGBTI work can use to improve how they resource the movement.
  • If you are a funder: Invite your grantee organisations to take the survey, whether they are registered or not. Here is how you can do it.

About LGBTI Pathways

LGBTI Pathways is a global resource mobilisation research project by Global Philanthropy Project and ILGA World. The project will develop credible, reliable, and accurate evidence on the needs, priorities, and funding landscape of the international and regional LGBTI movements.

Why this survey matters

This survey is a unique opportunity to help understand the funding needs and realities of organisations that work with, and for, LGBTI people in every region of the world, identify gaps, and support better funding decisions and advocacy.

With concrete data and stories, we will create a robust evidence base to:

  • make funding decisions more targeted, and responsive.
  • reduce “one‑size‑fits‑all” approaches that overlook local nuances.
  • highlight urgent gaps and long‑term investment opportunities.

What we are asking

The questionnaire focuses on five core areas:

  • Funding and sustainability
  • Capacity and organisational needs
  • Partnerships
  • Future priorities
  • Regionally-specific issues

All responses are confidential: LGBTI Pathways will not request your organisation’s name in the survey, and your safety will be a priority at all times.

When can organizations take the survey?

The LGBTI Pathways survey will be open from 28 January to 21 April 2026. Follow this link to access the survey.

How survey data will be used

Once the survey is complete, our researchers will compare the data with the Global Resources Report—GPP’s trusted 12-year benchmark used to map money going to LGBTI movements. Together, they will produce a global gaps analysis, highlighting misalignment between funding trends and on‑the‑ground needs, and comprehensive global and regional reports.

These documents will inform the decisions of donors, institutions, and policymakers, helping to strengthen funding strategies and ensure evidence-based support for LGBTI communities worldwide.

I’m a grantmaker…how can I get involved – beyond the survey
