2024 ILGA World Conference Session: Presenting the State of Trans Organizing and State of Intersex Organizing Reports, 3rd Edition
November 15, 2024
9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. EDT (GMT-04:00)
The session will focus on presenting and discussing the findings of The State of Intersex Organizing and The State of Trans Organizing reports (third edition), which compile and analyze data provided by hundreds of trans and intersex organizations, networks, and initiatives worldwide. As in the previous editions published in 2013 and 2017, the reports include data and analysis on funding trends affecting the movements and their capacity to operate at the national, regional, and international levels; data and analysis on the key issues currently addressed by those movements, as well as on the current needs, challenges, and opportunities facing organizations, networks, and initiatives. Each report also includes comparison of survey findings with the donor-funding data in the Global Resources Report, and a set of case studies exploring current organizing strategies.
While comparing these reports with those of previous years, the new reports pay careful attention to disruptive issues with an enormous impact on current intersex and trans organizing, including humanitarian crises and their lasting consequences, and the virulence of the anti-gender opposition to human rights.
The session will highlight report recommendations for diverse audiences, including foundations, intermediary funders, and donor governments, as well as action points for civil society, and next steps that can be shared with all actors concerned with increasing and improving the resourcing of intersex and trans communities and organizations.
